YARDS PARK- ON THE WATERFRONT

It is the first official weekend for baseball season. There is also a new water front park called The Yards Park on the Anacostia River near the Nationals stadium. The new park actually opened last fall, but today there were some scheduled cherry blossom events and activities to take advantage of the baseball foot traffic. The Navy Yard is also located along this path. It reminds us (a little) of the park on Lake Michigan. Eventually, condos, restaurants, and retail are expected. The Department of Transportation relocated there last year. We walked over to find that it was not very crowded, but the weather was seriously not cooperating- in fact it poured on the way back and the wind was howling. The die hard fans continued to make their way towards the baseball park. We made our way home in the opposite direction as fast as we could. Now the sun is out.
An addition since last year
