Library of Congress Madison Building Cafeteria

We have been waiting for quite some time for the new cafeteria to open on the 6th floor of the Library of Congress Madison Building. For the last several months, the choices for a coffee break were to either go to a smaller version located on the corner of the 6th floor for easy pick up stuff, or on the ground floor with no windows and coffee shop feel. I much prefer the windows to the cave, so generally ended up on the 6th floor with views of the Capitol Building and the Washington Monument in the distance. Last week was the grand opening of the new space, and it does feel very modern and new. As I rarely use it for lunch, it is a delight to sit by the window and spend some time there in the morning. Most of the reaction has been positive. Whether it was needed or not is another question- and not one that I could possibly answer.
An entrance on either end

A view to the South- you can see our house and Alexandria across the River!

Looks inviting

Always fine art in the Library

Many recycling containers and reminders

Tables along a full bank of windows

The usual characters

Several touch screen check out stations
