Cafe Deluxe & Crate & Barrel at Tysons

We took a ride to Tysons via McLean for lunch today. We have not been there for a while. One of the main reasons we like it is that it's a great ride along the George Washington Parkway and once we get to our destination, there is covered parking. Tysons is also one of the first areas we explored when we moved here. I remember Crate and Barrel on Michigan Avenue in Chicago so very many years ago. Only until recently was there one built in Milwaukee. We never quite understood the appeal then, but really get it now. Right next to the Crate and Barrel is the Cafe Deluxe- the sister restaurant to Tortilla Coast that is one block away from us here on Capitol Hill. There is a second location right by the National Cathedral. We always bring our guests to these establishments because the food is good, and the service s excellent. On the way to and from we are reminded of the metro that is being built to Dulles Airport. Every time we pass by here the construction is a little further along. I'm just glad we don't have to deal with all the road blocks and associated traffic- especially during rush hour. It is really nice to be able to walk to work- and I am reminded of that every time we get in the car.

A familiar sight

Cafe Deluxe is located right next to Crate and Barrel
and they share a covered parking garage

Good when it rains and snows
A French theme, but the food isn't

The traffic on a Saturday afternoon next to the Dulles metro construction

An eventual metro station - they are arguing about what to call them
