The Capitol in Bloom

The Capitol Building is probably my favorite building in Washington DC. Of course, the Library of Congress Jefferson Building is just as nice, but for a different reason - I happen to work at the Library. Each season brings with it a very different look, and every time we walk past it I am compelled to capture the moment. It's getting to be tourist season in the city, and everyone wants a picture of this place. It represents so many things to so many people. I particularly like to think about the bread being baked in the basement during the Civil War and ponder who owned the footsteps that crossed the marble floors. Regardless, it is a delight to be able to walk two blocks from our house and visit the place and observe the visitors enjoying it as much as we do- something that was quite impossible to do while living in Milwaukee. But my family has consistently made the effort to get here over the years- when we lived in Massachusetts, Florida, or Wisconsin.

Spring is earlier than usual

The city will be bursting with tourists soon
