St Patrick's Day Parade

Because it was such a beautiful day we thought it would be a good idea to walk over to the Mall. I had a feeling that the St. Patrick's Day Parade would be on - and it was. We ended up at the starting point near the Smithsonian Castle and the Air and Space Museum. All the participants were taking turns entering the parade at that location either on foot or in a vehicle. One thing struck us as odd- there was no typical parade noise. Perhaps they were just getting assembled and practicing a bit for the "real thing" down Constitution or Pennsylvania Avenues. But, it was entertaining to watch all the same. We never saw parades in Milwaukee, because it was either too hot or too cold, or too far away, or we just weren't interested. We didn't really plan to see this one either- it just happened to be there when we arrived. Although we do have O'Briens and Crowleys in the family- which makes it all the more fitting.
