National Gallery of Art- Ito Jakuchu

As is customary on a Sunday afternoon when the weather is just right, we take a walk to the Mall. We usually start at the east side of the Capitol Building and cross over to Pennsylvania Avenue. Along the way we noticed a lot of remnants from the Cherry Blossom Parade that was held yesterday- pizza, McDonald's and Starbucks garbage that overflowed the cans. When we reached Constitution Avenue, there was a long line waiting in front of the National Gallery of Art. Actually, this is the backside of the building, as the front faces the Mall on the other side. Since Cherry Blossom Festival extends through almost the end of April, there are still a lot of events being held to honor the season. This exhibit is The Colorful Realm- Japanese Bird and Flower Paintings by Ito Jakuchu. It is a treat to see such interesting exhibits throughout the year. But in all honesty, it's more fun to watch the visitors. The best part is that it all happens right in our back yard.
