Cyrus Cylinder at the Sackler Gallery in DC

We have visited the Sackler Gallery on the Mall many times. Generally we hear about some sort of Iranian exhibit and meander over. When we lived in Wisconsin, it took a lot more planning. Since we moved to DC, we've been to the gallery several times for Norooz activities, miniature exhibits, and to bring out of town guests for a spin. When we were in Iran three years ago, one of our friends wanted to find a necklace with the Cyrus Cylinder. We couldn't find anything. The real thing isn't even in Iran, but we did see the tomb of Cyrus. But the real Cyrus Cylinder has now come to us. So we walked over yesterday to see it. It was simply gorgeous outside, and there were a lot of visitors obviously interested in seeing this notable piece. I was disappointed that photography was not allowed, so you'll have to check the Sackler Gallery website. And as with most things I see in person, they or it always looks a lot different than what I imagined. I'm glad we went, but am also glad we didn't plan a trip around it.
