GE, Cuisinart Keurig, Brita, and Braun Water Filter Confusion

The water tastes really bad here. The old GE refrigerator had a built in "pitcher" that could be filled with water, but it needed a water filter. The new GE refrigerator has an automatic water dispenser on the door, which also requires a water filter. But because the water dispenser and ice cube maker work sporadically or not at all, we needed to get a real Brita water pitcher to dispense water and to fill ice cube trays for a back up. We also have a Cuisinart Keurig one cup beverage maker that uses individual K Cups, and also still have a really old Braun coffee maker. We went shopping for filter replacements for the Keurig one cup the other day, and ended up with the wrong type. I searched Amazon and Cuisinart on line to locate the correct one and could not find it anywhere. I could have ordered the Braun replacement water filters, but would have had to pay for shipping because the order did not meet the minimum purchase dollar amount for free shipping. This whole thing is becoming a nightmare to keep things straight. It's worse than keeping track of all the passwords we need to change and update for every little thing. It's becoming ridiculous, especially since we drank the water straight from the tap in Milwaukee. What's with all these water filters?
