Capitol Hill Gardens

We left our valuable parking space after lunch to run some errands only to return to a neighborhood under siege. I had no clue that there was a home and garden show in the area today, and the hoards of visitors were unbelievable. On top if that there is a Nationals game, it's Mother's Day, and a recipe for a congested parking dilemma. We ended up more than two blocks from the house, which is a rare occurrence. Not that I am surprised by the turnout. I just wasn't expecting it. This time of year the gardens are exceptionally beautiful. Yesterday, the iris varieties were featured on the blog. Today, the front yard gardens are asking to be photographed and are too irresistible to pass by without paying some attention to them. The garden beds come in all shapes, sizes, and colors. One plan is more unique than the next. Some have interesting sculptures, water features, and huge plant and flower varieties. Others are more manicured and subdued. I can see why everyone wants to come here and visit. After all, it is Capitol Hill, and Mother's Day, and simply beautiful outside. My friends in Milwaukee have their plants huddled in their garages still waiting for the warmth of the season. Which do you prefer? The best part is that I don't have to buy a ticket to see the homes or the gardens.
