What's Wrong With This Picture? Google Maps Please!

After enduring a miserable day indoors yesterday waiting for repairmen and others to show up, we needed to get out of the house by late afternoon. Since it is a rare occasion that anyone shows up on time for anything around here, so was the case yesterday. What was to be a 9-12 arrival window turned into 2 in the afternoon. When all was said and done, we headed out to Rockville for dinner at Yekta, one of our favorite Iranian Restaurants. It takes a good 45 minutes to get there on a good day taking Wisconsin Avenue all the way. It ended up being more like an hour and a half due to some darn miserable construction that turned three lanes in to one in Bethesda. So we chalked the day up to nonsense, but tried to enjoy the wonderful sunshine and ride. What caught my fancy was a car in front of us that was stopping and starting erratically along a stretch of road before we arrived at the roadwork back up. Can you imagine what was happening? As we got a closer look, the driver was stopping every few feet to pull out and read a paper map. We were so happy when he finally pulled off to the right, and left us wondering who does that anymore? We still can't believe we were able to navigate the streets of DC at one time before NUVI and now Google maps. Maybe someone should let this guy in on the secret.
