Don't Open This Door

We have a sign on the refrigerator to "close the door." Depending on what is in the side door, it doesn't always make the connection and we have suffered the consequences. Putting the reminder there may help, but I'm not so sure. There is a lot of street parking in our neighborhood because most of us are not fortunate enough to have garages. There was a red car parked by our house with a sign in the window on the right passenger side. Upon closer inspection it read "don't open this door." It was curious because it got us thinking to whom this message was intended. If it was like our refrigerator, it was just a reminder to the owners that if they opened it again, they'll never get it closed based on a previous negative experience. It also sounds like a problem we have with a window in our bedroom. Apparently when we had an earthquake a few years ago it moved the building enough to jam up the windows so some of them would not open anymore. We tried to open it once and jammed it, and it has not been opened since. We put a sign on it too to remind us not to try opening it. Luckily that one will be removed tomorrow when the repair people come (we hope). Maybe it's just a bad memory so a sign is needed to remind us not to get in to whatever miserable situation was created. I suppose that's a good thing. But it does look odd, or funny, or curious - depending on your point of view.
