Mosaic Cuisine & Cafe at Congressional Village in Rockville

Today was a day to explore. We are always on the look out for a breakfast place and heard about Mosaic Cuisine and Cafe in Rockville on a TV show last week that highlighted spots around the DC area. So we set google maps to our destination and headed out on the GW Parkway, turning north on 495. It took about a half hour to get there, and it is not far from Yekta, a Persian place we like a lot. Mosaic is located in the Shops at Congressional Village, which is a sprawling residential and shopping area right off Rockville Pike. Waffles is the thing to get, so we tried them. Simply lovely! They were very light and served with strawberries and whipped cream. Since we always split and share everything we eat, the Mosaic omelette made a great combination and was very fluffy and filled with spinach and other goodies. They didn't have my husband's favorite Virgin Bloody Mary, so he made do with a large glass of tomato juice and Pete's hot sauce. Rockville isn't my favorite place, and on a Friday the construction delays and traffic coming back home were a little bit of an annoyance, but certainly not unusual anywhere around here. All in all it was a very pleasant place. It was founded by someone from Lyon, France. I could definitely taste the butter - something we avoid at all costs. I am hoping my gallbladder doesn't notice.
