Airframe Portable Car Mount

Before we first moved to DC, we relied on AAA TripTiks, and then Nuvi to get us back and forth from Milwaukee and other places. Nuvi came with a suction cup mount that allowed you to see the map as you were traveling. It seems such a long time ago! Since the iPhone came around with google maps, we now use it to find our way around. Since we have been taking more car trips, it was getting old to either hold the phone or place it in the cup holder for safe keeping en route. So I looked around for some iPhone car mounts that might meet the need. I usually keep the phone charging because the battery really drains. I found a clip gadget from Airframe that looked interesting - it attaches to the vent rather than the window. Sometimes the suction cups don't hold very well, and the reviews for this non suction cup product were positive. We haven't needed it yet so there will be a part 2 to this story. In the meantime, have any of you used this dandy helper? It's got to be better than nothing. I hope the heat and cold air won't wreck the phone. But more importantly I hope the charging cord is long enough. Did you ever get the feeling there is probably more to it?
