A Trip to Lynchburg

The last time we took a road trip to Lynchburg, Virginia it was October/November. We wanted to visit our family members who are in the middle of a very large renovation - actually an old warehouse on the James River. It's been four months and it was time to check out the progress. Both times we brought friends of ours who know the renovators. A lot has changed, but the best is yet to come. Getting to the rooftop is still a challenge, but will eventually become a very interesting patio and mother in law suite of sorts. There are a lot of permits and approvals required because of the historic building. There are five levels in the large structure that used to be a shoe factory, and each segment will be tackled one at a time. I can read the blue prints and can envision the final product. My husband is overwhelmed by the sheer size of it all. The ride from DC takes about four hours and takes us through Charlottesville and the mountains. I am still anxious to see the city when the weather is neither rainy nor cold. All in all it's a great overnight vacation, we get to visit a bit, and spend time with our friends on the way to and from. Soon it will become more of a routine and a very unexpected one at that.
