The Persian Book Lecture Series at the Library of Congress

It is the perfect setting. The Middle Eastern Reading Room in the Library of Congress is the venue for lectures about all things Middle East. It's springtime and Persian New Year - so there are several programs offered about Iran and Persia. This one was about philosophy - not something I have a particular interest in - but a great excuse to join my husband on an afternoon during lunch. My mind wanders about the room and I just observe the beautiful surroundings on the way to and from the event - and listen a little. We have attended several programs here over the years. They are all free and open to the public. Working in health care in Milwaukee never offered us these kinds of opportunities.  And certainly not in a setting such as this. The spring break crowds are starting to invade the city now. It's nice to just be able to sit back and take it all in - whether it's a lecture or a cherry blossom.
