Sometimes the Prettiest Cherry Trees are Right in the Neighborhood and Stanton Park

Yesterday we spent a couple of hours driving to the National Arboretum which is only a couple miles away. Today we walked to the Tidal Basin amid the masses of human and animal visitors alike. It can be very tedious to get around town this time of year on foot or by car, and the best part about it is that you can look back on it all and say you did it. Most locals stay away from these mobs, but we always like to think that people spend a lot of money to come here and enjoy what we could easily take for granted. It is great to experience all of this, but sometimes one need not look very far and just observe the goings on in the neighborhood. It is such a beautiful day that any one of these gorgeous cherry trees can make any house look good behind it - even if there are garbage cans right out front. And some of the parks are particularly colorful and brilliant that connect the neighborhoods together. One is Stanton Park on Capitol Hill that is always eye candy this time of year. Since the season is so short, one needs to visit all these places within just a few days. This year was unique in that the weather was picture perfect for the first time in many years, even though the blossoms were a week behind schedule. I'd still like to visit the tidal basin at sunset by the Roosevelt Memorial, and then perhaps walk about the Capitol Building tomorrow morning. It's a great time to live in DC in spite of all the other inconveniences, but don't blink or you'll miss it!
