Should We Buy a New Subaru Forester - or Keep Old Bessie?

We think our eleven year old Subaru Forester is the perfect car for us since we moved to DC.  It gets parked on the street and banged up regularly, and still gets us around without a hassle. But we keep it in tip top condition by taking it in for routine service and care. This time it went in for a 90,000 mile check and we were told it also needed a new gasket to the tune of $1600. Last summer it needed a new air conditioner. As we were driving back to the service department in the loaner car, we were admiring the sleek new features on the Impreza - keyless start and touch screen options. So after paying the $2800 service bill, we walked over the new car dealer and asked about the 2015 Foresters. We know we will be getting another Subaru, but just can't figure if this is the right time. After just getting old Bessie fixed, they told us the trade in would be much less than what we knew it would be based on the blue book numbers. So we told them we would need to think about it and are in no hurry. The salesman said he would talk to his manager about the situation. We really want to get the benefit of having the car repaired and plan to take a few road trips over the next few months. Then maybe we'll think about it again. This might be the last car we will buy, and we just aren't happy or excited about it at all. We are not ready to give up having a car all together, and just like the idea of having our eleven year old Subaru - in this town, without a garage. No reason to rush into it. But we know what we want when the time comes. Let's hope Bessie sees it our way too.
