A Very Confused Waiter

The only thing good about lunch today were the leftovers. After hanging around the neighborhood all week we drove over to Alexandria to a place we frequent quite often. The wait staff is usually great - until today. I’m not sure what was on his mind, but our waiter made several mistakes. So much so that the two wait staff we typically have tried to make up for it more than one time. We asked for two salads - we got one. We asked for soup - he forgot it. He filled my ginger ale glass with water; he forgot to bring us our take out order and didn’t believe the cook when he said the food in front of him was our order; he disappeared more than a few times and we waited a long time for the first course; his arm should have been covered as there was some skin condition going on.... it doesn’t sound as bad as it actually was but it seemed like we were there for an awful long time. Our usual waitress told us we should ask for her before we are seated - somehow guessing how we were feeling. She and the other guy kept checking on us to see if we needed anything. We have never seen our waiter there before and I’m not sure he will be there the next time we go. My husband usually feels sorry for folks like this, but neither one of us gets upset about it. That guy needs to be in some other line of work. What that is I have no idea.
