Orchid Diversity at the US Botanic Garden

We just happened to be passing through the US Botanic Garden the other day. They were in the process of setting up for the new orchid exhibit about orchid diversity. There were boxes and ladders scattered about. Employees were hanging from the rafters setting up orchid displays way overhead. There was so much going on it was difficult to zone in on a particular plant. This divergence was most evident by the fountain in the main area that was surrounded by so many different colors and types of orchids - which is what the exhibit is all about. The lack of harmony was unusual from a phoyographer’s perspective. I am more accustomed to seeing similar plants in both color and form - gathered together. I suppose that is more realistic. But seeing as how this is a man made display anything is possible. All I know is that we will need to go back for another visit to see how it ended up in the final presentation. It certainly is something not to miss. It’s one of our favorite places in the neighborhood and it’s just down the street.
