Spring and Snow and Flowers

We have been hibernating since Monday. Our last walk was on Monday and it was simply beautiful outside. Things changed quickly on Tuesday with rain, followed by snow on Wednesday. I didn’t mind staying inside because I am trying to get over whatever it is I caught at the prompt care center last week. It’s like a flu/cold/annoying virus that just won’t go away. Add to that a newly diagnosed arthritic knee that is still aching after a month. But I’d really rather have a scheduled routine that gets us out and about and keeps our minds on everything healthy. So with 4-6 inches of snow still on the ground we decided to get outside in the bright sun and see what was going on. All the sidewalks were clean - not because anyone shoveled them - but because it was warm enough to melt whatever accumulated. The porta potties are all lined up along the Mall for the big March on Saturday. There are so many buses parked along our walking route you know spring break is on. The poor blooming flower petals in the gardens were scattered on the ground. Several branches were broken and the buds have not quite fully matured. It was pleasant enough in spite of the almost 20 mph winds. March has been a miserable month around here. I hope it gets back to normal soon.
