Cherry Blossom Annual Walk Around the Tidal Basin

It is so crowded around town this time of year! And the cherry blossoms are now in full bloom. What that means for us is a walk around the Tidal Basin. It’s almost like taking a pill - it’s something you just have to do. And once you are there, it is magical. So yesterday we took the metro from Capitol South to the Smithsonian exit and walked over to the Washington monument. It was so cold we wore our winter coats and hats. It was quite busy, but not packed like it gets on the weekend. I’m not sure how may miles it is just around the basin, but when we got home we clocked 4.5 miles compared to our usual 2.4! Since my iPhone battery does not hold up very well in this nasty weather, I didn’t take the usual amount of photos or movies. It is supposed to rain or even snow tomorrow so I’m glad we got around to doing our annual visitation. For most of the people there it’s a one time event. For us, it’s been twelve years straight without a miss and several times before we moved to DC. On second thought, maybe tomorrow we will drive around east Potomac park before they all disappear.
