Observations, pictures, and sketches highlight the transition of moving to the nations's Capitol after 30 years of living in the Midwest. A clash in cultures? Maybe not!

Ferris Bueller Ferrari - National Historic Vehicle Register - Cars at the Capital
Last year there were a few different automobiles displayed on the Mall during the spring and summer months. One was the car used for President Taft’s inauguration, Reagan’s Jeep, and something vintage. The National Historic Vehicle Register sponsors these “Cars at the Capital,” and someone stands guard by the enclosed glass attraction for the duration. A new vehicle was being unloaded last week in the middle of the Mall in front of the National Gallery of Art, but we didn’t have any idea what it was. So while on our morning walk today, we walked by and it was the Ferrari from Ferris Beuller’s Day Off with the Illinois license plate “Nrvous.” We did see that movie when it first came out all those years ago. It was funny, and there were memorable parts, but I don’t remember it being that great. I’m sure we have all run in to characters like the ones in the film. There were a few people milling around and checking the car out. It was something to see, but didn’t do much for either of us. But if you are a Ferris Beuller fan, I’m sure you would be delighted.
