Golden Triangle Gardens

We rarely go downtown DC. I don’t particularly like the metro, noise, or the crowd. My husband loves it. The last time we were there was to visit our cardiologist because the time was more convenient than at the Bethesda office. But since we have not traveled or taken a road trip anywhere yet this year, we decided to plan excursions around town just to try something different. This week was a metro ride and a walk to Old Ebbitt Grill, and then a trip to the Renwick Gallery near the White House to see the Burning Man exhibit. For whatever reason, we didn’t care for either place. On our way to the metro station to return home we passed by an outdoor Burning Man “sculpture” and also by some very pretty gardens planted along the avenue. There were signs for the Golden Triangle and the tree box garden contest. I had never heard of the Golden Triangle so we learned something new. It was worth the visit downtown just to see this particular garden entry with Japanese, Mexican, and French gardens. Then we walked around the park, and stopped awhile to watch the passersby. Even the burning man exhibit outside looked so much better than the indoor gallery. Where will we go next time? Not sure, but it’s been awhile since we visited the portrait gallery.
