It’s been a while. We haven’t seen a deer on our morning walks in the park for quite a long time. As we were chatting up the usual conversation, we ran smack in to the rear end of a fairly large deer. It was all alone. The last time there was a family of five or six hanging around together by the stream. This one was munching down big time. And it didn’t matter that we were staring right back at him, once he noticed us. So we just stood there and watched him for a while. I just find animals of any kind fascinating - especially now since we have such limited time outside. Earlier this week we saw a large red headed woodpecker chowing down on an old log. Since we don’t go to the mall any longer, and because it’s so hot, we drive over to the park rather than walk. It’s only a couple of blocks from the house. After the walk we take a ride in the car to cool down before we go home. We always wear a mask and it can get quite suffocating, so the air conditioning feels really good. I’m just glad we have the option to walk outside - though at times there are too many people around. It’s all the little diversions that make the day go by. Lately they seem to go by too quickly.
