National Gallery of Art - East Building

We hadn’t been back inside the national gallery of art since we moved from Capitol Hill to northern Virginia over two years ago. So when the times passes were dispensed with and I needed to get some photo images for the 52Frames weekly challenge, we decided to take a ride in to town. We arrived before ten AM and found a great parking spot on the national mall. As soon as we walked in I started taking photos for the “distorted” challenge but also of things that just looked good. It was quite empty at first since the doors just opened, but after a bit it got a lot more crowded. We made our way through the east side - including the chicken sculpture on the balcony roof - through the midsection and lighted tunnel, over to the west side. These images are primarily from the east building. It felt good to finally be inside some of the places we used to frequent all the time when we lived on Capitol Hill. Oftentimes we would stop in for a lunch break after our morning walk. We always look forward to going in to town and reminiscing. It’s a love/hate relationship. We miss being close to such wonderful places but it’s a very difficult place to live in. At least it’s close enough to visit.
