Scott’s Run Park Morning Walk

The one thing I will remember about Scott’s Run Park and Trail is almost passing out from climbing up the steep incline and being so short of breath that we had to sit down. That has never happened before. It was so uncomfortable that my husband and I both sat for a bit - feeling the intense sweat dripping down our faces and taking several minutes to recover. You could say it was a great stress test - but I don’t think that it was worth it. Before we got to that point we had started out our morning walk in another part of the park and then realizing it wasn’t the area we wanted to be in we walked back to the car and drove over to the preferred place. This section had a few more people about rather than being desolate on the other site. Another interesting feature of this preserve were the steppers that are constructed so you can pass over the river water without getting your feet wet. It actually was very lovely. The antennae looking water bugs were also cute. Our goal was to reach the falls - and we did. There were signs everywhere not to swim or wade in the water, but no one pays attention. I wouldn’t trust the currents of the mighty Potomac River and it’s branches. We may consider returning here again, but I think as far as rivers and trails go the neighborhood park meets our need. We prefer flat surfaces, the urban jungle, and civilization to trails and bugs and steep inclines.
