Easter in Old Town Alexandria

Old Town Alexandria is such a nice place. We visited there many times before we moved to the DC area seventeen years ago and have been there more times than we can count. We used to drive in for lunch - a lot. Now we drive in to town for a morning walk a couple of times a month. There are certain times of the year where the holidays are celebrated and the decorations abound. Christmas is always so traditional and pretty, and Halloween can’t be matched. The wicked witch from the wizard of oz has quite a presence along with dancing skeletons and ghouls. Although it’s not as obvious, hints of Easter can be seen at this time of the year. So last Friday we decided to take a walk along the Potomac River waterfront, then turn in to the side streets to see what we could find. I was also in search of wisteria, and there were a few places where it was in bloom. So we started paying more attention to the front entryways and the Easter decor. There were pretty wreaths and eggs, rabbits and flowers. Someone actually created an Easter bunny made out of Christmas lights that took up the side of the house. Even without the holidays Old Town is always so inviting. But at this time of the year it’s even more beautiful.
