Library of Congress Deepak Nayyar Program

When I retired from the Library of Congress I signed up for emails regarding upcoming programs. We always enjoy them regardless of the subjects. It’s a great way to spend a couple of hours in town. It was a lot easier to get there when we lived on Capitol Hill. Now we need to leave well in advance because of the traffic, find a place to park, then walk over. Getting caught up in the timed pass line doesn’t help either. We used to enter at the Madison Building and take the underground tunnels. But since the pandemic we haven’t tried that route. So yesterday we went to see Deepak Nayyar talk about economics. But before we went to the meeting room I took a few photos of the Gutenberg Bible for my photo challenge this week. Then as we made our way over to the meeting room. I’m always struck by the beautiful hallways and rooms of the library. The program started late and the speaker has obviously accomplished a lot. We do prefer the question and answer format to a lecture. But I was hoping to hear more about the current economic environment rather than historical, but history has a way of repeating itself. On the way back to the car we passed by the Capitol and the Supreme Court. Then we got stuck in rush hour traffic - which is why we prefer early afternoon programs. It was a beautiful day for an outing and were glad we took advantage of it.
