Beelicious Air Fryer

Both my husband and I love French fries. So we decided that perhaps an air fryer might come in handy. I’ve also heard a lot about how wonderful air fryers are. So I searched around on Amazon and found a unit that looked nice, and it was also marked down because it was a newly introduced item from Beelicious. It arrived yesterday. It would take a bit of rearranging the items on the island counter because we don’t have a pantry. So we both read through the product manual and did the prelim one time turn oven on to get rid of the metal and plastic smell. I checked out a few recipes as well. Because we already had eggplant dish leftovers we needed to heat some Mrs T’s pierogis. Rather than use the stovetop, we brushed the frozen pierogis with some olive oil and put them in the basket and turned the temp to 450 for 14 minutes, turning them midway through. I like the fact that you can see the food cooking because there is an oven light. It also heats up very quickly. We also found out that it will take a bit of trial and error to get it right. Some of the pierogi were a bit overdone - crisper than we would want. But for hors d’oeuvres they would be perfect with a side sauce. We should also just make half of the box and cook them on demand. I’m looking forward to trying it out for home made French fries - which is why we got it to begin with. But it might also be good for eggplant and pizza and perhaps the frozen crab cakes. The basket is a little larger than seven inches square so there are limitations. But since there are just two of us I didn’t see the need for a large unit. The air fryer looks good on the counter top so I am hoping we can get some use out of it. It stays cool enough while in operation so I don’t think we will need to set it on a trivet. It’s also easy to clean - either hand wash the grill and the basket or stick it in the dishwasher. There are also seven other settings that can be used from baking to broiling. Our large thermador oven takes forever to heat up. Maybe we will use this more instead?
