Leah Evans Textiles

It's always nice to meet people from Wisconsin. It reminds me of everything I like and remember most about living there thirty years. Almost everyone we met there were just really pleasant and kind. And that was the case again when we met a young lady, her husband, and their little girl. Leah Evans was commissioned to do a textile quilt for our son's family that highlighted the Chesapeake Bay area and the events of personal interest that make it so very special. It now hangs above their fireplace in the main living room. Leah travels around the country to promote her craft at a variety of shows and exhibits. The most recent one was at the Building Museum at the Smithsonian's 30th Anniversary craft show. Unfortunately we were unable to attend that particular event, but based on what we saw up close and personal, we know her work is impeccable! As an artist and author trying to start out in my later years, I really appreciate her commitment and approach to doing something she really loves early on. But best of all, she's from a place that we know well- which is very different from here.
