Old Town Alexandria Torpedo Factory and Waterfront

After having lunch in Old Town, we took a walk to the waterfront. It was such a beautiful afternoon to explore the well known streets that we have come to know and love. Every time it rains at a steady pace, the Potomac River floods Old Town- and you can see why because the water is almost even with the street. There are plans to renovate the waterfront, and as usual, there are as many folks for it as there are against. Along this area is the Torpedo Factory, several restaurants, and the central place for water taxis and boating. There are in fact several boat clubs all along the Potomac River. The Capitol Building can be seen from here in the distance. We visited Alexandria many times before actually moving to DC, and it remains our favorite destination. We visit here quite regularly and if we had a horse and buggy, the horse would need no directions from us to find is way.
