Instagram App Layout

I've always loved taking photographs for as long as I can remember. And having an iPhone makes it all so easy. Oftentimes I like to group a few photos together. Picture It! was a software program I used in what seems to be such a long time ago when desk top computers were the only option. I now use Sketchbook pro on my iPad to not only draw digital art, but to piece several items together from different places to create more horizontal projects. But the easiest app by far to use for combining related images together is Instagram's Layout app. I've been fooling around with it for a few months now and continue to stumble upon new features all the time. The options are practically limitless and it is fun to use - for art, photos, or creating collages for whatever reason. If you are in to this sort of thing, it is highly recommended. I could spend all day creating layouts for so many different reasons. It's nice to have experienced a lot of this evolution. Most often I just stumble upon it and am self taught. It's amazing that things like this don't take me long to figure my way around it. As for work related projects... It may have something to do with really liking the subject matter! 

Shadow Art on the Streets of DC Using the Instagram Layout App

The options are limitless. I love creating things and stumbled upon the Instagram app that allows you to combine several photos in to one portrait. I was organizing my photos on my iPad and noticed I had collected several shadow shots of my husband and myself over the years, in all seasons, walking along the streets of DC. So I started playing around with the options - and they are limitless. You can flip, mirror, widen, shorten, extend, and manipulate the images - essentially creating a work of art out of photos taken off the cuff. I have also used this app to show the progression of portraits I paint from sketch to final product and show the same image in four different ways. The technology is great and it allows your imagination to swirl with possibilities. I often think about how things have changed so much even within the last five years. I always loved taking photos - starting with my swinger Polaroid  - and now exclusively depend on my iPhone for all things artsy. I just wish I had more time in the day to play around with it. 

 

Instagram Layout App

I really like the Instagram layout app. It has made cropping and putting several photos together so simple! I like to show the progression of a digital portrait by putting a sketch next to the next several steps to the final product. I also like to show how digital art can be displayed in several formats to give customers ideas about how to be creative with it. It's also great for clustering similar themes on a single product. Pillows seem to be a hot item right now. I used moms and babies to showcase portraits on pillows. The finalized composition can be used on my business Facebook page, on my Etsy shop, on this blog, Instagram, Tumblr, Pinterest, and any other social media outlet! Fine Art America allows me to create the variety of options for the digital art, making it all even easier. Thanks for making cropping and creating so much fun!
