Something For Everyone at the Library of Congress

They are free and open to the public. When I took my walk in the afternoon yesterday, I passed by the elevators where all the flyers hang. The programs and events cover just about every topic and a lot of them are held in one of the most beautiful buildings in Washington. We will be going to a lecture in the Middle Eastern division next week. It's almost Persian new year and there are always programs this time of year. My husband enjoys walking over to the library from home, I meet him in the hallway, and we head over through the tunnels connecting all the buildings. If you look hard enough there is something for just about every taste, topic and subject matter. We never had this opportunity in health care because everything was health care related. This place has a vast wealth of material and experts on all subjects. And every week there is something different. And it's free. You just need to walk on over.  

  

Library of Congress Programs

There is something for everyone. Some of them are open to the public, while others are employee only. Some are for fun - others take on a more serious tone. Regardless of your interests, there is bound to be a subject worth learning more about. The great thing about it is that they are all offered at the Library of Congress, where I work. The classes, seminars, presentations, instructional programs and more are in full swing now that Fall is upon us. It's almost like being back at school - except it's voluntary and another way to spend a lunch outing. Over the years I have been to several of them. I particularly like historical and biographical subjects. My husband prefers Middle Eastern themed events. If we like the program enough we'll even come back on non work hours to attend. There always are continuing education options at most work places. These are more entertaining options, and well worth attending - for free.
