Bodum Bistro Mugs

As luck would have it - anything made out of glass might break. And since our tea cups are made out of a double layer blown glass, it’s not unusual when a crack appears. This has happened every time, but it doesn’t keep us from replacing them. My husband loves his tea after dinner - with cookies. And he also loves his bodum bistro mugs. They last about two or three years. Maybe we shouldn’t put them in the dish washer - something I just learned about. We usually purchase them at Crate and Barrel. I looked them up on line and they were more expensive than ordering a pair on Amazon. So I ordered the pair on Amazon. Now we have four including the one with the small crack. Not that we have guests anymore, but it’s nice to have a set of matching mugs - especially for evening tea. These cups and mugs come in a variety of sizes for all different purposes. I like the fact that it doesn’t get hot so you can hold it comfortably nor does it require a coaster. We always have the typical mugs for tea, but it looks so much nicer in a glass blown cup. 

Bodum or Zwilling Sorrento Plus Double Glass Wall Coffee Mug

We really like the Crate and Barrel Bodum double glass wall coffee/tea cups. But they do break once in a while and have been replaced a couple of times. Usually we go back to Crate and Barrel. But this time, because it was raining, we were on a morning walk in the mall and passed by Sur la Table. So we decided to go in and check out what they might have. We found a two cup set made by Zwilling Sorrento Plus. They essentially looked the same and would replenish our supply. They are actually a little bit different when we tried them out for tea after dinner for the first time. The Zwilling cups have a smaller mouth and are a little taller, but I think the capacity is about the same. The handles are also more “square” vs “rounded” and are not as easy to hold as the Bodum cups. I don’t think it makes any difference except you are always used to what you are used to. When we moved to our new northern Virginia condo nine months ago we never throught we would get used to it. It’s amazing how one adjusts - even to the smallest of things. 

Crate and Barrel Visit

We needed a few kitchen items and haven't been to Cafe Delux for awhile, so we headed out to Tysons to see if we could find what we were looking for, and have lunch at the same time. The dish rack bottom fell apart, one of the insulated tea cups cracked, the knife handle broke off (and super glue didn't do the job), and the soap pump was rusty. So we found an Oxo soap dispenser - the bottom is left clear so yeah can see when it needs to be refilled. The Simplehuman dishrack was an updated version of the one we had. Now the question is whether to keep the rack on top of the counter or in the sink. We love the Bodum insulated cups and glasses and found a replacement. The biggest issue was deciding which knife to get. We just needed a good all around knife that would work for most activities. The sales person was very helpful, and she unlocked the cabinet for my husband to "try out" the one he liked best. We ended up with a German Wusthof brand made since 1815. I better behave myself now that thing is in the house. It feels like we accomplished a lot, but the day is almost over and we haven't really done anything. Where does all the time go?
