Our Mom Eugenia Greek Restaurant

There used to be only one. Now there are three Our Mom Eugenia Greek restaurants. When we lived on Capitol Hill we stumbled across the store in Great Falls and visited many times before we moved to northern Virginia over four years ago. We loved the ride along the GW Parkway for lunch. The Greek restaurant in our neighborhood closed during the pandemic. At least we still have this option. We have never gone back for indoor dining, but we oftentimes order pick up and enjoy taking the 25 minute ride on a Sunday afternoon - more often in the summer months than winter because it’s still light outside. We always get enough food and varieties to last about three days. We always get the lemon soup, spanakopita, keftedakia, kotopoulo souvlaki, moussaka, mixed vegetables, and hand cut fries. Sometimes we get the cod bites. A little bit of everything plus a salad at home make for a great meal. If we have any leftovers we also mix that in to stretch it out. So rather than get full entrees we prefer tasting a bit of this and that. Aside from Moby Dick Persian food this is our second favorite restaurant. Let’s hope it stays around.

Our Mom Eugenia Greek Treats

We used to drive there from DC every so often. Our Mom Eugenia in Great Falls is a great place for Greek food. When we moved to northern Virginia three years ago we found ourselves going to both Our Mom Eugenia and our neighborhood Greek restaurant. Unfortunately the neighborhood place closed due to the pandemic. We also love Vaso’s Kitchen in Alexandria and pick up food there routinely. Since we hadn't been to Our Mom Eugenia for quite a while, we decided to order out yesterday. It’s about a 25 minute drive - which is why we avoid driving there in the darker winter months. So we ordered up a bunch of small dishes rather than entrees. It’s always better because there is a lot of everything. It all comes packaged so nicely and we always give a big tip. So we weren’t disappointed - especially since this would be our “Valentine’s day” feast. We also like to get the children’s menu items because it’s just enough - plus we usually get the right amount for two - or even three - dinners. The bean soup was delicious as was everything else. So if you like Greek food this is a delightful place. I wish it was like the old days when we actually went inside and enjoyed the pleasantries as well as the food. At least we still have this option.
