Lewinsville Park and Historic House

Since we have a loaner car due to a rear end collision, we don’t want to drive around too much. So rather than take our usual morning walk in to DC, we took another path down the busy Chain Bridge Road. We drive that way all the time on our way to Tysons and Vienna. But we have never walked that way. We stayed on the sidewalk and walked through a lovely Cul de Sac on chain bridge court. We got as far as Lewinsville Park and decided to take a detour down the path. Along the way we came upon a playground for kids, and every sports field one could ever want - baseball, soccer, basketball, and tennis. At the end was a place for people to rent vegetable gardens. Since it poured last night it was very humid, wet, and muggy. So everything looked drenched and in disrepair. But I bet the crops are plentiful once the season begins. An interesting house was in the middle of it all. Apparently it was involved in a civil war skirmish. We missed the sign that described the incident but I looked it up. It has something to do with Jeb Stuart. On the way back the path looked lovely with the fallen petals. You could say it was an interesting walk to get to know the neighborhood of Lewinsville which is a part of McLean and Langley. I didn’t care for walking along a pretty busy road. But the park was a nice diversion.
