Two Views of the Capitol

We won't pass up an opportunity to walk over to the Capitol Building on a Friday evening during the summer months. Not every Friday has the perfect weather, which makes it all the more tolerable. And the band concerts will end soon. So the weather was ideal, and the concerts are still scheduled. Since we arrived fifteen minutes early, we strolled along the front and then back up. It was a perfect shot of the building from a distance - and ironically no one was on the west lawn. Then we decided to sit on the opposite side we normally do. This night was a night of cowboy and western music from stage and screen, starting out with a soundtrack from the Cowboys and ending with Oklahoma. Then the power equipment for the dome renovation turned on and it became too hard to hear anything. So we walked to the front and sat on the wall directly in the center. At close range I took a panoramic shot of the Capitol, with more than the typical number of spectators arranged along the steps. It was just the perfect scene. By 9 PM it was time to go home, so we made our way back through the Capitol grounds and back down the street towards our house. We've walked this way so many times since we first moved here nine years ago. But every time we do it feels like the first time.
