52Frames Choose A Color Weekly Challenge

The color choice was easy enough. But the image to showcase the color would be a different story. The 52Frames photo challenge for this week was “choose a color.” Green is my favorite color and there are plenty of green branches and trees on display for the holidays. So when we finally got around to getting some seasonal branches at American Plant I knew I would think of something after the green pepper idea didn’t work and my husband carrying the greens in a green sweater and hat didn’t sit well with him. So I turned the image of the greens in to a cut out Christmas tree. Then added in a fitting background of textured green and bokeh lights. A tree needs a topper so a star was added to the top with some luminescence. A few different backgrounds were tried but my husband favored one. So the image uploaded was a composite that was the photo and additional hand painted extras. I suppose that has become my signature design - so much so that people comment about the approach now. It also feels more like an art project and is more fun to do. Plus, it’s appropriate for the season this week. 

52Frames Choose a Color

Well, green is my favorite color. And the 52frames weekly photo challenge subject was “choose a color.”  Since we had registered for a program at the Library of Congress last week I thought there might be some great options there. After we got a great parking spot just two blocks away we walked through a very long orange barricade. That was interesting. Once inside the building there were several images, but they were almost too ornate and not really a single stand out color. After the program the Capitol Building looked great behind the varied greenery. In fact that photo was my first choice. Then there was the red rowhouse. Later in the week we took a ride to the National Gallery of Art. On the way out we passed through one of the beautiful plant galleries in between all of the beautiful art. It was screaming green and ended up being the photo of choice this week because the greens were actually the subject. The Capitol building wasn’t green so I didn’t think it met the definition. We also walked over to the US Botanic garden and there were certainly some great choices there too. Sometimes it’s better to have just one image that meets the mark. This week it was difficult to pick a favorite.
