Criminal Case IPad Adventure Games

I stumbled upon them a few months ago. The Criminal Case iPad games are just plain fun. When I got my first tiny iPhone so many years ago I got hooked on these types of games. Back then, Big Fish was the app maker of choice. Once I had an iPad, it became an every evening entertainment venue for my husband and me. Big Fish games came with a price and have since disappeared - which is why I found criminal case. The Criminal case games are “free” - but they come with a lot of advertising. It’s tolerable - and now they offer the games for $7.99 without advertising. I have all five of them loaded on my iPad and we play each one until the points run out. The one thing that we have learned playing any of these games is that I am really good at anything visual - hidden objects, drawing, shapes,  putting things together. My husband is much better at anything analytical, mathematical, or intuitive. Another one of our favorite recent games was Murder in the Alps by Nordcurrent. But we have been waiting for the next chapters and they don’t seem to be coming any time soon. In the end it’s not so much the games. We sit on the couch together and have mindless fun. It was great before the hibernation period started two months ago and definitely is even better now. 

The Butterfly’s Dream

I love Big Fish games. Every night my husband and I spend about an hour playing these adventure hidden object games on my iPad. It’s a great way to spend even more time together. He doesn’t like it as much as I do but he’s a good sport. I am much better at solving visual games; he is better at math and analytical games. But something has happened to Big Fish. They haven’t been producing new games recently. So I have been forced to look for different options and haven’t been very impressed with them. Then I came across “The Butterfly’s Dream” - for free - and we attempted to play it. We actually got pretty far in to chapter one but got stuck at the mountain where you had to yell at it. Frustrated, I found the walkthrough guide and finally got out of there. It was such a pleasing game - and much different than what we were used to - that I didn’t want to get thrwarted and be forced to stop. The next evening we got to an even more difficult section and found a You Tube instruction video. This is when my husband said it just wasn’t worth playing if it took that much work! I haven’t deleted the game from my iPad - yet. Maybe this is one of the few I will play on my own. The artwork in the story is beautiful and for that alone I may just keep going. Playing these games really illustrates the difference between my husband and me. I will keep working at something until I get it done; he’ll stop if it takes more than a couple of tries. We tend to complement each other in so many ways. Playing games like these really makes it obvious. (Screenshots are from the app)

Big Fish Games - What Happened!?

When we had a massive snow storm several years ago I found a great way to stay occupied. I downloaded an adventure game on my iPhone and things have never been quite the same. Since then the iPad came along and the games became a lot easier to see and play. So that meant my husband could keep me company and we started to play together. Every night for the past many years we sit on the couch and play something for about an hour. This is in between the news and our nightly TV program watching. I tried a lot of different options but over time I thought Big Fish fit the bill. They are generally adventure hidden object games and aren’t too hard and oftentimes entertaining. I always have a couple “ in the queue” so we can easily move on to the next one. You can really tell what each of us has an inclination for - I am definitely more visual when solving puzzles. My husband is much better at math and “if the train travels x miles” type of games. I even have the Big Fish app loaded on my iPad to check the weekly new games. But something happened towards the end of last year. The new games suddenly came to a halt and a lot of them were discounted. I was very disheartened! Then I read about some reorganization and knew that would be the end of my comfortable approach. So I went to the App Store looking for some other options. I’ve tried several of them before but they just don’t match up to our favorites and I don’t care for their formats. I should say “my” favorites because my husband basically just plays along to keep me company and keep his head sharp! So, if any of you have any recommendations and suggestions about alternate games I’d love to hear about them. Otherwise I may just have to play some of the older games I missed or ignored because of poor reviews. It’s not so much the games, but the time we spend together. I just wouldn’t want that to change.
