Cleaning A Woner Hair Clipper Blade

Unfortunately the time had come again. My husband was getting antsy about his hair. It’s been a while since I had to cut his hair with the Woner hair clipper we got when all this virus nonsense started. Sometimes it feels so claustrophobic - we, like everyone else, can’t even do the basic things we used to - but luckily the feeling comes and goes. I haven’t had a hair cut since February and it is annoying. Anyway, after using the clipper, you are supposed to brush off all the accumulated hair around the blade. And, you are also supposed to wash the blade. Good luck! Neither one of us could get the blade head out to do anything - even after reading the instructions and looking for you tube videos. The last thing I wanted was to take a trip to the emergency room with cut fingers. So we left the blade alone and I put a couple of tiny drops of oil on it, as directed, leaving the clipper running a bit to circulate the oil. I’m hoping this thing lasts long enough to use. I have a feeling my husband may never go back to the barber shop. He always wanted me to cut his hair. Now he has his wish. 

Day of Reckoning - First Haircut (at home) with Woner Hair Clipper

It was inevitable. We ordered a Woner hair clipper through Amazon and it arrived on March 25. That was already a few weeks after my husband’s last haircut. He gets antsy when his hair gets even a little long, and we were now several weeks out since his last official haircut. So yesterday was the day for the first trial. I have never used a hair clipper before, although I did cut hair with scissors at the dorm when I went to Florida State - over forty years ago! We looked up a you tube video to get a quick lesson and I quickly read through the instruction book. We wrapped my husband up in a plastic bag and sat him on the edge of the tub. It didn’t make any difference - the hair went everywhere. I started with the back of the head - a bit too short on the right side, so I turned the blade up and put on a longer clipper. It helped, but I wasn’t very confident. Then I did the sideburns and sides with a longer clipper and finally turned to the comb and scissors to trim the top. Lastly I tried going around the ears but was afraid I might cut something. My husband kept giving me encouraging words and in the end he said it looked better than what any barber could have done. I know his tricks. Hopefully I won’t have to do this many more times because cleaning up the hair was a mess. Now I need to figure out how to clean the blade so it continues to work. I suppose it could have been a lot worse. These are the days when a bald head is the best option. 

Woner Hair Clipper Kit

When I was a freshman at Florida State University all those years ago, I lived in a dorm right next to the dorm my brother lived in. Hence, I met several of his classmates and dorm mates. I’m not sure how it started, but I ended up cutting many a head of hair - with scissors. I am by no means a barber or hairdresser - it just happened. Now my husband is frightened that  he won’t be able to get his haircut. He gets really antsy when it’s time for a haircut - almost possessed. So we decided to get a haircut clipper and kit. I had no idea what to look for, but ended up selecting a middle of the road set made by Woner. It arrived this week and looks like a substantial kit. Neither my husband nor I know anything about hair trimmers. I saw him reading the instructions this morning - something he never does. I checked out a couple of you tube videos about giving haircuts. I am dreading the day I will probably need to use this equipment.
