Beavis and Butthead Return

Every so often I get a text message from a guy I used to work with in the Midwest. Anytime we go back for a visit my husband and I always have lunch with him - which unfortunately hasn’t happened since 2019 and the pandemic. He has even stayed with us in DC when he had some work to do for Marquette University. It’s always nice to stay in touch with folks that we knew back in the day. Last week I got a text from him about Beavis and Butthead returning for a new series next month. That may seem strange, but I love Beavis and Butthead! So much so that I even had a remote control that mimicked those horrible voices. I brought it in to work and we had a ball with it. We even watched Beavis and Butthead Do America in DC before we moved to Capitol Hill. Anyway, upon further investigation I realized that the cartoon already has two new seasons that started in 2022 and 2023, and the reminder he sent was actually for season three that will begin on Comedy Central. But the first two seasons are already available on Paramount+ now. So I was really excited to find the show on the TV app that we already have. As you know nothing is the same the second time around and that is the case for this too. It’s hard to believe that it’s been thirty years since the first show. There are too many ads but it does have its quirky moments. I’m sure we will continue to watch an episode here and there. The humor is really quite moronic and disgusting but there is just something about it.

Beavis and Butthead Do the Universe

It’s hard to believe I like these characters. Beavis and Butthead brought a lot of joy to our lives back in the day. The are so raunchy it’s disgusting but I liked them anyway. So when I got a text message the other day from a colleague I used to work with in the Midwest I knew we needed to see the new Beavis and Butthead Do the Universe movie. I actually had a remote control that triggered their weird voices and brought it to work. You can only imagine the reception it got. We also loved the King of the Hill spin off even more. But I think you can only stand Beavis and Butthead in small increments. The movie was just terrible but we had to watch it all the same. We saw Beavis and Butthead Do America when it came out many years ago - ironically we were visiting family in DC at the time. Perhaps it was an omen that we would eventually live on Capitol Hill. Anyway, it was great to be reminded that the movie came out but it wasn’t worth the $4.99 month charge on Paramount Plus. Hopefully we will find something else to watch that will make it worth the charge. But in the end it was actually good to see them again. It just reminded me of another time.

Beavis and Butthead Sidewalk Art?

It’s strange to think I loved Beavis and Butthead, but I did - and I miss them along with King of the Hill. I bought a remote control that had Beavis and Butthead making those stupid comments and laughs, brought it to work, and my boss loved it. That was long before we moved to DC. Their feature length movie about “doing America” was also captivating - especially the pieces about DC. We were reminded of them when we passed by some sidewalk art in our neighborhood on our way back from our morning walk. We have oftentimes seen two little girls creating hop scotch boxes and other things, but these images were quite remarkable. The artwork itself was quite good, but the short verse written to the side was even more interesting. If you remember Beavis and “Cornholio” and “TP” episode, you will get the idea. The youngsters were not around to ask about it, but it made me chuckle out loud.

Beavis and Butthead

The last time we watched Beavis and Butthead we lived in Milwaukee. I loved them! I even had the remote control, took it to work, and it was used in a variety of settings. When we visited DC way back when, we went to see the full length feature film here in the capitol city, and loved that too. I also had the CD's of the "best of Beavis and Butthead," and currently have the Application for my IPad. I always hoped they would return. Now, it is many years later. I live in Washingon, DC and have two grandsons... one is sandy haired, and one is dark haired. Our son told our grandson that he really needs to watch Beavis and Butthead to understand Grandma. I'm really looking forward to the first new episode tonight! And it hardly matters where you live.
Who would have thought I would have 2 grandsons that have the same coloring?
