Plushi Paper

In the never ending search for toilet paper, one needs to be creative or look at items that were never on the radar screen. Since we haven’t left the house since March 13, we are dependent on grocery delivery and Amazon - like thousands of others. And if we are using these services, so are thousands of others. Every time we added toilet paper to the list, it was never delivered - the same for hand sanitizer, soap, and drano. Everything is out of stock. Luckily we had enough toilet paper to last a couple of more weeks. Nevertheless, the search intensified. It seems my daily routine - like everyone else - is scoring delivery times on Instacart and others and searching amazon for the rare opportunities when a product becomes available. We even opened another Costco membership thinking that would help - but it didn’t. So I got a couple of travel toilet paper rolls - the kind one might take camping or traveling. Then I came across a product called Plushi Paper. It had good reviews for the most part. It’s toilet paper in a large Kleenex box that comes in a container that holds the box and can be placed on the toilet paper roll hanger. It’s meant for people who can’t easily tear off the paper - like young children or seniors - or for RV’s, etc. So I ordered some. It came with four boxes and seems like it will work. For now, I’ve stored it in the cabinet and it’s there if the other stuff runs out. Luckily Wegman’s finally delivered and I’ve had luck with Amazon. A while back we inadvertently ordered a large number of paper by mistake and it lasted a long time. But that was when it wasn’t a hassle to get it on the weekly grocery store trips. How things have changed. 

Amazon Ordering - Need to Check Unit Amount More Carefully!

With my enthusiasm for ordering items on Amazon I sometimes forget to look more carefully at the number of items I order - or should I say - the number of items included in one order. We became Prime members a few months back. So we made a list of generic type things and compared the prices on items like toilet paper to our grocery store. Who would have guessed there are about ten different Charmin types, sizes, and variations? Anyway, we ended up getting many more rolls of toilet paper because I didn’t look carefully at the detail of how many items really were included in just one order. We won’t be needing TP for a long time! Last week I ordered Nips chocolate parfait candy because my husband’s supply was low. We ended up with many, many boxes of the stuff. Luckily we had plenty of room in the cabinet above the refrigerator to store it in. Then I ordered toothpaste. My husband uses a different brand than I do and he said three tubes would be enough. I ended up ordering three items with three tubes each - or getting nine toothpastes! Luckily for us all these things will be used up. But I have realized now that I need to look closer at the fine print and not be swayed by how many people bought a particular item, or the item may come up on the top of the list. There are so many options sometimes it can be overwhelming. We have a new Whole Foods store opening up just 2-3 blocks from where we live. We usually don’t shop at Whole Foods but it may be worth our while to check in to it, just for the prime savings - and the fact that we can walk to the grocery store. In the end I really like the convenience of ordering on Amazon. But I really need to be more careful! 

Charmin Ultrasoft Cushiony Touch Family Mega Roll TP

We used to have a membership for Costco but let it expire because we usually don’t need bulk orders, and like more product selection. And we aren’t in to massive warehouse shopping. But since we started the free trial of Amazon Prime, things have changed. While in the grocery store we started checking price points for all kinds of things. It was clear that Prime had some real deals. That, along with a new Whole Foods store opening soon just two blocks away from us, sealed the membership. So last weekend I went through the “staple” items we use. One of the biggest bargains was Charmin ultra cushiony soft toilet paper. But rather than select “one” of the items, I inadvertently selected “two.” That meant we would be getting six packages with eight mega rolls in each - a whopping 48 rolls. I suppose I could have changed the order, but figured we would eventually use it all anyway. Luckily at checkout there is an option to select a plain Amazon box rather than a product label box. When that shipment arrived it was HUGE! So we unpacked it and luckily I found enough space for it all in our tiny condo - high on the shelves in our closet and on a rack behind my clothes. I guess next time I need to pay a little more attention to the amount I select. So we won’t be needing TP for quite some time. And that’s fine with my husband. He hates carrying that stuff around from the store to the car and from the the car to the house. I just did him a big favor.
