Observations, pictures, and sketches highlight the transition of moving to the nations's Capitol after 30 years of living in the Midwest. A clash in cultures? Maybe not!

Florida Foliage
You know you're not in DC anymore. Although some of the greenery looks familiar, most if it is very southern, and very Floridian. It's not all that strange because I grew up in these parts and many things feel the same. The palm trees are everywhere. But the big leaves and birds of paradise are somewhat unique. We are just passing the time waiting for someone to get out of the casino, so we took a walk around it instead of spending any time in it. For whatever reason the temperature inside the building feels like the middle of winter. That definitely is one thing I do remember - sweating outside and then freezing indoors. I always carried a sweater. We lived in Milwaukee and that was too cold, and Florida is too hot. Maybe DC is the place to be after all? We're still thinking about it.
