Subaru Forester Windshield Repair

Finally! After almost two weeks we picked up our Subaru Forester at Beyer Subaru after a windshield repair. It happened on a Saturday (of course) - the same day our out of town guests were arriving at the airport - and we were taking a two day trip to Virginia. So we drove our car to Beyer Subaru. They gave us a loaner for the duration, but the process seemed so much more complicated than necessary - or maybe we just aren’t familiar with the claims process. I filed a claim on line with State Farm insurance. We decided to have the work done at Subaru (rather than curbside at the house) because we have the safety eyesight system in our car and I read the eyesight system would need to be recalibrated. After many phone calls and days later we finally got word the car was ready but the check was not cut. So we said we would pay Subaru in full and State Farm could reimburse us just to expedite the process. It just felt so much better getting back in to our own car - especially when you have to park on the street and there have been unending rainstorms in our area. We didn’t need a rental car getting a tree down on it. I don’t know how they got the parking and vehicle inspection stickers from the old windshield on to the new one. But most importantly we were happy to be driving our DC car - not one with Virginia license plates with a visitor pass on the windshield. I’m hoping we don’t have to go through this again any time soon. We just aren’t any good at being inconvenienced.
