Wagtime Too Gallery Wall Update

It's been awhile since I updated the gallery wall at the Wagtime shop on Capitol Hill. We took a roadtrip to the great Northwest in June; starting in July we had a major bathroom and miscellaneous renovation that is almost done; and in August we made an emergency trip to Florida for my mom's broken hip which was followed by a massive hurricane. So I set to work last weekend printing out some new digital pet portraits that I've completed since the beginning of the year, and packed up my spray glue to mount the images on the existing foam board. My husband drove me over to the shop across from the Navy Yard and for about an hour the wall was transformed again. Out with the old and in with the new. I also had to print up a big batch of business cards to leave in the little holder, and also sprinkle strategically about the portraits. What started several years ago as a request to use the space for the portraits has become a familiar routine. I would like to thank Lisa Schrieber once again for allowing me to use the space. I am amazed how resilient the digitalart images maintain their color in the bright south sunshine and heat. In spite of that it's fun to switch it up every few months. I remember each and every one of the commissioned works - the pups and kitties come from all over the US. It's a great spot to display them. Stop by if you are ever in DC! 

Silent Auction for Wagtime

Thanks to Lisa Schrieber, a few years back I started a "gallery wall" at the Wagtime Too shop across from the Navy Yards on Capitol Hill. I've been displaying my custom commissioned digital pet portraits ever since. Lisa asked me the other day if I'd like to contribute an item for a silent auction they are sponsoring this month. Of course I would! So I needed to get a foam board at Staples and figure what might look nice to showcase my work. It took a few days to get it straight in my head, print out a few items, try some options kinda like a jigsaw puzzle, print out a few more things, eliminate others, and finally start glueing everything down. Then I needed to print up some business cards and cut them down to size, print out additional pet portraits to in preparation for a redo to the existing gallery wall, and now plan some time to actually update the wall. It's hard to believe I've been doing this for almost five years now. So yesterday when we walked past the space with an out of town visitor I was happy to say it is all my work! What a great way to show it off. Thanks again Lisa! 

Thanks Lisa Schrieber and Wagtime Too

When the iPad came out in 2010, I preordered one and waited by the window for it to be delivered to our house. I knew it would be a big hit - at least for me. This device reignited my interest in art, and it's much less messy than watercolors and pastels. I started doodling on it and the doodling evolved in to a little business on Etsy called LIT Digital Paintings. But I also wanted to showcase the commissioned pet portraits in hard copy. A new doggy day care and you name it shop was being built across from the Navy Yard near our house on Capitol Hill called Wagtime Too. The original Wagtime is near the convention center. By chance, I contacted the owner, Lisa Schrieber, and asked her if she might be interested in displaying my portraits in her shop. I met with her back in 2012 or so, showed her my work, and she offered me the whole wall in the large dog day care side. Since then I've been updating the gallery wall every few months. Lisa has also highlighted the artwork in the Wagtime newsletter. Today I was really pleased that she posted the newest update on the Facebook site with a link to my art page. I really appreciate the advertisement, but more importantly - the great space I have to display my work. Thanks again Lisa for the gallery wall. I couldn't have done it without you!

WagTime Too Pet Portrait Update

I had the good fortune of meeting Lisa Schrieber over two years ago. Thanks to her, I have a "gallery wall" at the WagTime Too shop on Capitol Hill on M Street SE across from the historic Navy Yard. The first pieces of my custom pet portrait digital art have been on display since October 2012. The paintings are commissioned work i have received from folks all over the United States, Puerto Rico, Canada, and Australia. They now wrap around the entire entrance - five wall surfaces - with a little more room for new foam board on a sixth wall. I had 46 new pieces to hang today for the new year. Since space was limited, I started at the front and worked across. The older pieces came off relatively easy, and I'm hoping the photo glue I used on the new pieces will hold. Usually I use spray glue, but it requires being in a ventilated area to use it. What's nice about digital art is that I have all the original paintings on my iPad, and can reprint them whenever I need to. So the old art can be made in to new again. I really appreciate the exposure of having this great opportunity of displaying the portraits I make. Each one tells a story, and many of them are pet memorials. I didn't take down the portrait of our Russian Wolfhound/Borzoi Tatiana. She will always deserve front and center.

LIT's Digital Art Pet Portraits on the Wagtime "Gallery Wall"

It was a very busy holiday season for me. I hand painted about thirty-five digital portraits. Included were a few groups of people but primarily it was dogs and cats of all breeds and in between. I love dogs and so creating these varied images is a treat. I finally had a chance to print them all, mount them on foam board, apply heavy duty velcro, and prepare them for display on the "gallery wall" at the Wagtime Too Shop. It is located across from the Historic Navy Yard on M Street on Capitol Hill. They offer a variety of services and goods for all the pet lovers in town - "boarding, daycare, grooming, & cool stuff." Unfortunately I ran out of foam board and photo paper, but had enough to complete and hang twenty portraits with eight more to go. The owners of the shops, Lisa Schrieber and Ofer Khal (there is also another one located on 9th Street NW) have allowed me to continue filling the space like wallpaper. There are now over 50 renderings on display. It's a great way to showcase digital art and is in such a perfect setting to show off all the furry friends from as far away as Australia, Canada, California, and Texas. Thanks Lisa and Ofer!
