Sunset at Ft. McNair

Last evening we went to the Cherry Blossom Fireworks Festival that is located in SW. Because it is a little too far to walk from where we live, we decided to take the car. We eventually found parking in the more secluded residential Ft. McNair neighborhood and meandered our way along the path to the River and the busy marina. We were far too early for the fireworks and definitely too late to find a place to sit for dinner. We walked all the way over the the Fish Market near the Jefferson Memorial. Along the way we heard music, saw boats outfitted with pink balloons, house boats that are bigger than our condo, along with a variety of street vendors. On our walk back to the car, the sun was beginning to set. The most beautiful scene from this little adventure was behind us. And I much prefer the sunset to the sunrise.
The wall of Ft. McNair to the left, the Titanic Memorial ahead,
and the Festival events all the way down on the right
