Captain White Seafood City

We got the orders on Saturday evening. Our son called and requested that we go to the DC seafood place to pick up two pounds of pre cooked jumbo lump crab meat - not just any crab meat - Maryland crab meat. We haven’t been to Captain White’s for quite a while - not since the wharf area in DC was transformed. The seafood city is actually a floating conglomeration of seafood “boats” that sell everything and anything. It was always packed and very difficult to find parking. So we left this morning from our new home in northern Virginia not knowing what we would find there. To our surprise it wasn’t overly busy and it was easy enough to find a park mobile space for thirty minutes. I’m not sure how much impact the new development has had on this long-standing institution. We headed over to Captain White’s and were served almost immediately. We got our goods bagged in ice and then took a quick promenade along the wharf. Everything looked worn in the overcast and cold day, but the seagulls were entertaining enough. I know I would never want to live any where near the water, because I don’t particularly like the smell. But this place has transitioned in to another bustling DC neighborhood. We are just glad we are familiar with the city and can find our way around after living on Capitol Hill for thirteen years. Let’s hope the crab meat lasts until tomorrow!
