AirMax Nasal Device

My husband has what he thinks are allergies. It results in a stuffed nose that makes it difficult to sleep. He can’t take any medications for it because they interfere with his glaucoma eye drops. So we have tried a few different things including nose strips and a device that is inserted in the nose to expand it. The Sleep Rite Splintek intra nasal breathe aid seems to work okay, but last about a month. But before I reordered them we checked out other options. I came across an item called AirMax nasal dilator. I ordered it and my husband gave it a try. It’s basically a plastic device that does the same thing as the Sleep Rite item, but it is supposed to last for ninety days. The problem was it only came in two sizes - small and medium. I had a feeling the medium would be too small. But when he tried it out, he said it felt like it actually did some good. So we would find out by the next day. Well, as was expected, the thing didn’t even stay in his nose. It fell out during the night. So I guess you would call it a total fail. Maybe if it came in a larger size? All I know is when his nose is stuffed up, he doesn’t snore. When his nose is open, I can hear the snoring even while wearing ear plugs. In spite of that I wish he could find something that really worked. So I guess it’s back to the Sleep Rite product. What we all wouldn’t give for a good night’s sleep. 

CVS, Breathe Rite, Nips and Total Wine

My husband has bad allergies. They started about ten years ago, coinciding with our move to DC. And everyone who lives here says if you didn't have allergies before you move here, you will certainly get them. Luckily, I can say I have not been affected like he has. But it doesn't matter where we are anywhere in the world, or the season, he still has them. We thought maybe the red wine might be causing it, but stopping that for a week didn't help a bit. So we went back to the one glass a day. I have tried to convince him to see an allergist, but doctors - like himself -  know better! I did finally convince him to try a breathe rite strip the other day. He said it actually may have helped - even just a little! Since that was the last one, we needed to get a few more to see if it really worked. So today after brunch at our usual McLean place, we trekked on over to CVS for a refill. While there, we couldn't pass up the bargain on NIPS Chocolate parfait candy. And since we were running low on our red wine supply, we went across the street to Total Wine to restock, along with our newly found favorite diet ginger ale. So, even if the breathe rite strips don't work, he can still enjoy a little red wine and Nips. Who could ask for anything more?

Annual Library

Since the Tulip Library ended quite some time ago, the Annual Library is now up and running. The plantings are still immature, but the site is excellent. In time, it will once again turn in to a beautiful garden. It's given me some ideas on what I need to do to add some color to my little patio garden. They say most anything grows here, and I believe that is true. I really like the long gardening season here. Up north, we could not plant anything outside until after Memorial Day, and the summer just wasn't long enough. But along with this long season comes all the allergies, but that is another story.

BLOOMS, ALLERGIES, and NEW YEAR

This is a beautiful time of the year. My friend tells me that the Star Magnolia by the Library of Congress Jefferson Building is the first to bloom on Capitol Hill every spring. But if you have allergies, it can be rather painful. Luckily, I don't seem to have whatever everyone else does. My husband, on the other hand, does. We don't remember having this phenomenon up north. And as we look at the beautiful blooms and flowers around the neighborhood, we are reminded of another splendid holiday. We would like to wish a Happy New Year to all of our Persian family, friends and everyone else in between!
