Werther’s Original Caramel Filled Hard Candy

It’s been over a month since the local Giant grocery store has had Werther’s caramel filled hard candy in stock. There are other Werther’s candies out there, but my husband is very particular about the candy he buys. So we ended up going to CVS to get a couple back up bags to keep the supply adequate at home. Every once in a while an Amazon order is needed for the routine stuff. I had a few things on the list and thought it might be time to get a decent candy supply through them before we get disappointed at the grocery store this week. The delivery arrived yesterday and my husband could not have been happier. Aside from the boring hand soap, eye drops, medicine, and rug stickers was a separate box of twelve Werther candy bags. We usually store them with the cookies and coffee after the candy jar is full. But this time we needed more space under the kitchen island where he keeps his Nips candy supply - which looked like it was also getting depleted. You can’t tell me that eating too much candy causes diabetes! Besides the candy my husband thrives on cookies after dinner with tea and sugar cubes. All of this sugar may have finally caught up with his teeth but it’s not going to stop him. And why should it? It’s one of the few things he really enjoys - and after the last almost three years it’s worth every bit of it.

Happy Valentine’s Day!

It’s nice to be remembered - not just on Valentine’s Day, but any day. But since it’s Valentine’s Day we received three special notes and treats. One was from our condo social committee. They spent a lot of time baking cookies and then assembling small packages of the cookies, along with a Hershey kiss and candy heart and placed them on the door handle. Our next door neighbor never forgets to leave a sweet treat by our door for every holiday. And then we received a text from my mom’s neighbor/caregiver who took such good care of my mom until the end. She and her husband now live in my mom’s home. It was a gift my mom left for them for being so kind. So it’s a good day to celebrate the people in our lives. A little chocolate and cookie goes a long way. But the more important thing is having people around that are so nice.

In Search of Nips Chocolate Parfait

My husband is a cookie and candy monster. He keeps candy in the car and in his pockets. His favorite bits are Werther’s, Nips, and Bali’s Best. I usually order Nips snd Bali’s on Amazon; Werther’s we get at the grocery store. The last time I ordered Nips I was not able to find the usual 12 boxes that I’ve purchased fourteen times before. So I selected another option and obviously didn’t read the small print. The total was $13.99, and only when the package was delivered that we realized that there were only three boxes - which meant that each box was over $4 apiece! Now we know inflation is starting to affect just about everything. But that was ridiculous! So I went back on Amazon and saw that the twelve boxes option was once again available for $28.95. I was going to order it but decided to check out Giant to see if they had Nips. At the grocery store today we went over to the candy aisle and there they were - Nips chocolate parfait! My husband did not believe they could be found in Giant. The candy was not only there, it was on sale for $1.99 from $2.39 for a forty cents savings. So I got six boxes. I would have taken twelve but my husband didn’t want to look too greedy. So what we learned was that Amazon still has the twelve box option at the same price it always was, but that Giant also has Nips and it was even on sale. I don’t think the sale made up for the exorbitant price we paid for those three boxes that were shipped all the way from California. That just goes to show you that it’s always worth shopping around - even for candy.

Candy, Chocolate, Cookies and Apples?

I’m not sure how he does it, but my husband is a sugar monster. He drinks his coffee and tea with several sugar cubes. The kitchen cupboard is full of his favorite treats. There are chocolate chip cookies and other assorted types along with Werther candies. Candies are kept in his pockets and in the car. The refrigerator bin is filled with candy bars and Hershey kisses. The only chocolate I have is one Hershey kiss after dinner. My favorite dessert is angel food cake. The funny thing is that every evening we have fruit for a snack. The healthy fruit off sets the negative sugar. So we always have to have at least eight to ten Granny Smith apples stocked. The supple of apples dictates when we go to the grocery store. Along with the apples we always have mandarin oranges and seasonal fruit like watermelon or nectarines when they are in season. My husband’s blood sugar is always normal, whereas mine hovers close to and a little beyond the maximum range. I like to think it’s because of the hypertensive controlling meds I’ve been on for most of my life and nothing to do with what I eat. These days it’s worth having something that’s pleasant. So in this case it’s candy, cookies, and chocolate - mixed in with a bit of fruit.

Nips Chocolate Parfait Candy Monster

Whenever I order something from Amazon I always ask my husband if there’s something he might need. Usually the answer is no. But every once in a while he checks the candy bin and tells me he has a short supply of something. That was the case the other day when the Nips Chocolate Parfait were at an intolerably low volume. So rather than order one carton of twelve boxes, I ordered two. These aren’t the only candies in the house, car, and every pocket. And that’s on top of all the cookies that are well stocked - and also all the sugar cubes he has with coffee and tea. I think that’s why he is one of the healthiest people I know. And that’s why I always make sure he has a huge supply of whatever candy or cookies he likes. There’s always room in the cupboard for his treats because that’s what makes him so sweet.

Nips Candy Stock Replenished

My husband is not just a Cookie Monster - he’s a candy monster too. And we need to keep the candysupply fully  stocked. He keeps candy in his pocket, in the car, and in the house. What that means is frequent candy pick ups at the grocery store for Werther’s and small Hershey chocolate bars. But when it comes to Nips, I always order in bulk through Amazon. And so I did last week and they arrived yesterday. My husband is like a little kid in the candy shop and it feels like opening presents on Christmas Day. Unfortunately I only ordered one case instead of two! But, they should last for a little while. Luckily we have the space to store all of these treats. It used to be above the refrigerator in our Capitol Hill condo and you needed a ladder to reach it. Here, we have lots of room under the peninsula for much easier access. I’m not so sure if that’s a good thing.

Nips Chocolate Parfait Candy Supply

My husband loves candy and cookies. To that end we always stock up on Milano cookies at the grocery store. The chocolate variations and raspberry filled are his favorites. But when it comes to candy he is very particular. He keeps them in his pockets, in the car, in the house, and takes them along on trips. The Nips Chocolate Parfait candies can be bought in bulk through Amazon. The last time I got them seems like almost a year ago. The other day he mentioned that the supply was running a little low so I figured it was time for a refill. The box arrived yesterday and I didn’t realize how many I had actually ordered! Apparently twelve packages come in a case, and I ordered three cases. That meant we had 36 boxes of Nips! But it seemed like a lot more than that when we stored them away in the cabinet above the refrigerator. So these should last for awhile. And one way to last even longer is to mix them up with his supply of creamy caramel filled Werther’s Original and Bali’s Best coffee mix. We can always find the Werther’s in the grocery store if he should ever run out.

Nips Chocolate Parfait From Washington and California

Who doesn't like getting packages!? Even if I send them to myself there is something about getting a package in the mail - or I thought so until today. There were several items I ordered on Amazon and they were all supposed to arrive today. It's a hodgepodge of stuff including two twelve box containers of my husband's favorite candy. I've been tracking them the last day or two and couldn't figure out why there were two candy shipments. When I got the "delivered" message I was happy to see two boxes - thinking everything had arrived. But I forgot that all the stuff I was more interested in getting wouldn't be coming with UPS. It would be coming with the regular mail - and that usually doesn't show up until late in the evening - if at all. So when I opened both boxes I was disappointed that they were both filled with Nips Chicolate Parfait! The odd thing was one package came from Sumner/Washington state, Portland/Oregon, Louisville, Philadelphia, Baltimore, etc. The other one started in Ontario/California, new Stanton/Pennsylvania, Laurel/Maryland, etc. Somehow both packages ended up arriving at the same time but taking very different routes. I'm sure there is a good reason why it went the way it did. All my husband cares is that his supply of candy has been replenished. I'm still waiting for my stuff.

The Nips Finally Arrived!

No one was happier to get a box from Amazon as my husband was this week. After almost a month of emails and delays and requests for our patience, the Nips candy finally arrived. My husband has a sweet tooth like no other. There are candies stored in the car, his pockets, and in the house. When we travel he always takes a stash with him. I know where he's been when I find a candy paper trail. So when the package arrived there was a big smile on his face. That bunch goes along with the Bali's Best jugs that came in a couple weeks ago. It's nice to know it doesn't take much to make him happy. That's why we always try to keep a never ending supply on hand. It does both of us good.
