Observations, pictures, and sketches highlight the transition of moving to the nations's Capitol after 30 years of living in the Midwest. A clash in cultures? Maybe not!

Westminster, London
It was cloudy in Paris, but sunny in London. I don't think it is supposed to be that way. Not every one can say they have friends in both places - but we do thanks to my husband having classmates from medical school scattered about. We visited France the last few days and we started and are ending in England. There is nothing more we love to do than to get a tour through the city - not to stop anywhere in particular - but to see the sights and sounds wherever we happen to drive. We started the trip in Hyde Park and stopped to see the Royal Albert Hall, then headed by Buckingham Palace, and on to a variety of streets and scenes. When we decided to start back home it began to rain - of course. Most folks we know love taking trips, but we don't. Believe it or not, we prefer our tiny place on Capitol Hill, rain or shine.
